On Tuesday, September 3rd, members of the Park Ridge Fire Department turned out in full force at Fairway Market.. The purpose was to make sure that shoppers signed up to take advantage of Fairway's gracious offer during the hours of 4 to 10 PM. After winning a $500.00 gift certificate at Fairway's Fireman's Cookoff a few months before, Fairway decided to honor these brave men once again. They offered a 25% discount to people who registered at the store location with the Park Ridge Fire Department and the proceeds going to the charity of their choice; The Mary Therese Rose Fund.
The fund provides children with disabilities the medical provisions and aid that their insurance may not cover including hearing aids, walkers, wheel chairs, braces and therapeutic activities.
www.ParamusPost.com was not only a food judge, but felt it incumbent to participate in this benefice for the firemen. Having depleted their freezer larder, it was time to fill up again. Not having visited Fairway Paramus in a few weeks, it was with awe that one saw the Hot to Go takeout counter moved to two center aisles. Made the food much more visible and much more appetizing. Even freshly made soups were available. The selection was much larger and the blackened tilapia and the pork loin slices just beckoned and said that they wanted to go home with the shopper.
There were food specials all throughout the Fairway wide aisles and especially at the fresh fish and the meat department. Of course there is always a weekly special on fresh roasted coffee beans with each variety offering a different appeal. According to the coffee buyer when asked about a patron who tasted the beans to get a sample of the flavor, this is not a true indication of what will be forthcoming.
Store manager Joe Keiser was on hand to assist the firemen with any snags that might arise as well as tending to his usual duties of making sure that everything ran smoothly. Jennifer Fellman at the Catering Desk was busy as well.
The Park Ridge firemen were very enthusiastic about this extra benefit from Fairway and greeted people outside the store armed with clipboards, registration forms and pens. Quite a difference from the equipment they have to use to combat fires.
