Hundreds of city residents will commemorate the 12th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks by joining volunteers across the country in the September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance.
OGB Packing Event for the Troops
September 11th was designated a National Day of Service by the 2009 Kennedy Serve America Act. The Corporation for National and Community Service leads the annual event, working with hundreds of nonprofit groups nationwide.
Operation Goody Bag received a 1st Place CNCS 9/11 Challenge Grant award for their 10th Anniversary events involving over 17,000 volunteers on the 10th Anniversary! To this day, it remains the only 9/11 grantee from the state of New Jersey. In 2009, OGB Founder, Jane Cosco, was awarded the Presidential Call to Service Award by President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush in the shadows of Air Force One on JFK tarmac!
