(Englewood, NJ, September 6, 2013) – Englewood Hospital and Medical Center recently wrapped up its tenth year participating in the city’s Summer Youth Employment Program, which is designed to connect local high school students with employers that can provide an interactive, real-world job experience that is most aligned with their career goals.
“This was another wonderful year for the students assigned to the Medical Center,” said Greer Marshall, Human Resources Coordinator at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center.
“Our managers very much appreciate the work done by the students and the opportunity to make a difference in their lives by providing them with meaningful work experiences. We thank Karen Rawl and her team at the City of Englewood Summer Youth Program for facilitating this program and for inviting Englewood Hospital for the past 10 years to participate. We were honored to positively impact and influence these students and help them to shape and fulfill their career goals as they prepare for the future.”
The program allows students to earn money in a professional capacity, gain exposure to career opportunities within their community, receive hands-on experience in their field of interest and develop positive working relationships with professional staff. The Medical Center’s Human Resources Department interviewed students and connected them to the appropriate departments. Students trained alongside physicians, nurses and staff in a variety of capacities, including materials management, labor and delivery, pediatrics, human resources and physical therapy.
