On September 24, National Voter Registration Day, more than 700 organizations will host voter registration events across the nation. National Voter Registration Day, which this year falls on September 24, 2013, has reached a milestone as more than 700 organizations have signed on to host voter registration events across the nation.
Together, these organizations and their volunteers will celebrate National Voter Registration Day with the largest one-day effort to register voters and get them involved in the American political system. Indicative of last year’s success when more than 300,000 voters were registered, National Voter Registration Day 2013 is once again recognized and supported by the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS).
The theme for National Voter Registration 2013—Millions of people will vote this year. Will you?—reminds Americans that an estimated 1,500 political races and ballot referendums will be decided on Election Day 2013, which falls on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
What Will Happen on Sept. 24:
• A network of national and local organizations and their volunteers will engage and register eligible voters at transportation hubs, retail locations, concerts, and other events and venues. For a listing of events, visit http://www.nationalvoterregistrationday.org/event.
• A coordinated national online effort will encourage millions to easily register through the coalition’s online voter registration tool at http://www.nationalvoterregistrationday.org/register-to-vote.

About National Voter Registration Day
National Voter Registration Day is a one-day effort of coordinated field, technology and media initiatives to create pervasive awareness for voter registration. Led by thousands of national, state and local organizations and their volunteers, National Voter Registration Day is to civic engagement what Earth Day is to environmental awareness. National Voter Registration Day, which started in 2012, is held every third Tuesday in September—before voter registration deadlines nationwide—and is designed to remind and encourage eligible Americans to prepare to exercise their most basic civil right, their right to vote.
