A major sponsor of the Fund is the Community Chest of Englewood, Tenafly and Englewood Cliffs. This year, for the second year in a row, the Chest provided a grant of $11,000, to be distributed to deserving students.
Awardees are selected through a competitive process for students from Dwight Morrow High School and the Academies @ Englewood. Students are invited to submit a proposal to Judy Aronson, the Scholarship Fund's advisor. All proposals were reviewed by a team of judges who made the final selections. This year's awardees are (left to right) Michael Abolafia (attending Columbia in the Fall), Kathleen Baltazar (Ramapo College), Lillian Hikmah (St. Peter’s University) and Brian Kouassi (Boston College).
Each year a representative of the Community Chest is invited to attend the Annual Awards Ceremony to assist with presenting the awards. This year's representative from the Community Chest was Michael Profita, Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Community Chest and Englewood-based attorney. (pictured in the attached photo)
According to the Community Chest's Board Chair, Peter Corbin "The Community Chest is delighted to make this grant to the Dr. John Grieco Scholarship Fund as we are eager to support the academic achievement of these students, especially in light of their interest in the nonprofit and charitable sector."
