New Jersey’s Largest Firefighter’s Labor Union Backs Buono for Governor

This week the New Jersey Firefighters Mutual Benevolent Association (NJFMBA) unanimously voted to endorse New Jersey State Senator Barbara Buono for Governor of New Jersey. In defiance of any poll numbers outgoing President Bill Lavin and the 5,000 plus members of the NJFMBA enthusiastically embrace Barbara Buono as the only choice in the upcoming election.
“While everyone else is running out of a burning building, firefighters are running in, sometimes in situations that seem impossible to imagine a positive outcome. We rush in despite the odds”, Lavin said. “We see an appropriate analogy here, while some Democratic leaders and local Democratic Mayors have abandoned Senator Buono for fear of losing favor with an overbearing administration and shown no political courage whatsoever, our firefighters choose the only Democrat in the State that has the courage to take on Chris Christie."
“Barbara Buono has more political courage and substance than Governor Christie and the current leadership of the NJ Democratic Party combined,” said President Bill Lavin. "If New Jersey voters are tired of both parties and the back room political dealing that exclude the middleclass and the hardworking families of New Jersey, they can shock the world this November and vote for Barbara Buono for Governor."
Clearly the members of the NJFMBA, along with most first responders have grown tired of self promoting press conferences while the men and women who respond to tragedy and disasters are disrespected by the policies of Governor Christie, policies made possible by the “lets-make-a-deal” Democratic leadership.
The NJFMBA is hoping to start a “ripple in the pond” and have the voters of New Jersey start to believe that, in fact, Barbara Buono can win.
Barbara Buono has a remarkably compelling story to tell, a true New Jersey comeback story. If Senator Buono can deliver her message she so dramatically delivered at the NJFMBA convention last week in Atlantic City, Barbara Buono will no doubt be our next Governor.
The NJFMBA has been disenfranchised with New Jersey Politics for some time. This is a rare opportunity for our organization to stand with someone who actually deserves our support. In the best interest of public safety, fiscal responsibility and common decency and civility we proudly endorse Barbara Buono for Governor of the State of New Jersey
