Democratic gubernatorial candidate Barbara Buono today received the endorsement of three members of the River Edge Council, Council President Thomas Papaleo, Councilwoman Kathleen Murphy and Councilman Vito Aquafredda. The trio threw their support behind Buono, citing her commitment to lifting up middle class families, reducing property taxes and creating good-paying jobs.
"I am honored to be endorsed by these three fine public servants today," Senator Buono said. "They know that New Jersey cannot afford another four years of Governor Christie's failed economic policies. New Jerseyans need a Governor who understands their struggle and will fight everyday to provide opportunity to all residents, not just the privileged few. Together, we can move New Jersey forward and build an economy that works for all."
"We are proud today to formally endorse Barbara Buono to be New Jersey's next Governor," said River Edge Council President Thomas Papaleo. "Members of the Council have seen firsthand over the past four years the devastating impact of Governor Christie's failed economic policies. Too many of our friends and neighbors cannot find work and are saddled with skyrocketing property taxes. Senator Buono is the leader we need right now to fight for the middle class and turn New Jersey's economy around."
The endorsement from the River Edge Council Members comes as property taxes in River Edge have increased by 18% over the past four years. Governor Christie has failed to lower property tax rates or provide property tax relief, making it tougher for middle and working class families to make ends meet.
