Thomas Bracken outlined the role of the Chamber of Commerce, but encountered some controversy when he mentioned backing one of the governor candidates. Rotary does not approve of politics, especially one sided. They require representation of all candidates. Joe Connolly gave a low key address, but packed a strong message. Involving the audience of Rotarians, he asked them pertinent information about who was hiring, what type of businesses they represented and why they were hiring. He also related his chat to the introduction of the hi-tech usage of the Internet.
RIPE Gary C. K. Huang, 2014-2015 Rotary International President, hails from Taipei, Taiwan. As District Governor of then District 345, he created 19 new clubs in 1986 - 1987.
Those getting Vocational Service Awards were: William Sulski, District 7470; Giacomo, Jack, DeStefano, District 7490; Denise Murphy, District 7510; Todd Lamison. District 7500 and John Kurtz from District 7640. Each awardee thanked the assemblage for their prestigious acknowledgement.
