New Jersey Democratic Party Leader Applauds Senator Buono for Unmasking Christie’s Failed Economic Record
Chairman of the New Jersey Democratic State Committee, John Currie, pronounced Senator Barbara Buono the victor of the first of two televised debates tonight, and applauded her for unmasking Chris Christie’s failed economic record and misplaced priorities.
“Tonight, Barbara Buono was diligent and spirited; true to her working class values and principles. She proved not only that she is ready to lead New Jersey, but also has a plan to get us out of the economic mess that Chris Christie’s policies have made worse,” said Chairman Currie. “Mr. Christie on the other hand will say and do anything to avoid responsibility for his record.”
“New Jersey voters saw the strong leader that Senator Buono is, and that she is clearly the best choice for governor. Chris Christie is on the wrong side of history, stands in the way of progress, and when it comes to reducing property taxes, putting people back to work, and improving our schools, he continues to disappoint New Jersey's middle class families,” Currie said.
Chris Christie and his administration have increased the property tax burden while 400,000 New Jerseyans are out of work, and they blocked common sense gun reforms and an increased minimum wage. Christie administration officials have dodged hearings on their botched effort to streamline federal aid for survivors of super storm Sandy and are currently preventing New Jerseyans from enjoying marriage equality.
