We are turning into a health conscious nation, everywhere we look we spot an article regarding health and how we can make better choices for ourselves. This can only be a good thing because with all the fast food choices thrust into a faces on a daily basis it can be very easy to fall victim to making bad choices. Although there is nothing wrong with a treat now and again staying in control of your diet is the best thing you can do for your health!
So what are the foods which benefit our health the most?
5 a Day!
I think it’s safe to say that the majority of us these days are all aware of how beneficial eating at least five portions of fruit and vegetables a day actually is. Not only is great for our health but by doing so can make a huge difference to the way we feel. Eating five portions of fruit and vegetables a day can help relieve stress, combat tiredness and increase our energy. Remember our bodies need fuelling to be able to work, just like cars do and by putting in the wrong fuel can cause all sorts of problems! Fitting 5 portions into your daily diet may seem like an impossible task especially if we are strapped for time but there are many ways that you can do this with ease.
Blending and juicing to make a smoothie can be done onetime to create a whole batch of deliciously tasting snack drinks that could last a few days. Simply blend all your favourite ingredients together and store in containers; it’s a great way of getting a beneficial snack on the go and a lesser temptation to buy the wrong but convenient ones!
We cannot stress enough how important this meal is, you may think you do not need breakfast or you don’t have time to eat it, however by skipping this meal you could end up snacking on anything come eleven! By eating breakfast, just a simple bowl of cereal, you feel fuller for longer and realise that the eleven o’clock snack on junk is skipped, and you wait until lunchtime instead!
Stack up your sandwiches with salad for a crunchy tasty lunch and remember to take your own lunch to work rather than buying out otherwise you may be tempted for something less healthy. Also try popping some crunchy carrot and cucumber sticks in your lunch box, the thought of that may seem a little dull however when sat at the office desk and in the mood for a pick, you find that you actually enjoy it!
Try cutting down portion sizes and stocking up on the vegetables instead. Vegetables do not have to be boring, you can stir fry them, add them to a curry or make a delicious gravy to pour over them that will add to the flavour and make them more appetising. For those who are not a big fan of vegetables trying to be a little bit more adventurous with them will help you to discover new ways of actually enjoying them. After dinner why not try out a gym class, they are cheap and fairly easy to follow, you can find the right gym wear for you with companies such as movedancewear.
