A Progressive Grassroots Coalition Empowering the Middle Class

Mayor Cory Booker was the overwhelming winner in last night’s Senate debate. He was the only candidate on stage who will go to the United States Senate and represent every single person in New Jersey. He will stand up for working people, fight for our shared values, and refuse to contribute to the gridlock that plagues Washington. That’s why Mayor Booker received the endorsement of the New York Times shortly after the debate ended.
His opponent, Steve Lonegan, was angry and dismissive. He spoke with contempt for New Jersey’s cities and the people who live and work in them. When asked about his favorite Senators, he listed the trio who led the fight to shut down the government over the Affordable Care Act.
Need more proof that Lonegan’s out of touch with New Jersey values? Lonegan is hosting a rally this weekend with Sarah Palin. Palin’s visit proves that Steve Lonegan is pulling out the big guns. He isn’t giving up on this election and he’s enlisting the help of Tea Party favorites to fire up his base. We can’t stop either.
Mayor Booker clearly won the debate, but that’s not enough. We need to make sure that he wins the big prize: the election on October 16.
