St. Joseph’s 37th Annual Charity Ball Salutes Adel M. Zauk, Md For Physician Leadership

Adel M. Zauk, MD, began his career at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in 1989 as an attending neonatologist. In 2000, he was promoted to Chief of the Neonatology Division and Director of Nurseries for St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital, overseeing the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). In January 2014 he will celebrate his 25th anniversary as a member of the Medical Staff of SJRMC. In addition to these roles, he is also the President of Neonatal Associates, LLC.
Born in Lebanon, Dr. Zauk received his Doctor of Medicine from the Catholic University of Louvain in Brussels, Belgium. Post doctorate, he received both a Diploma of Tropical Medicine (D.T.M.) and a Diploma of Medical Mycology (D.M.M.), from the Institute of Tropical Medicine in Antwerp, Belgium. He performed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Paris at Bichat Hospital in Paris, France. He later completed his residency in Pediatrics at the Washington University Medical Center’s Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri and his fellowship in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York, NY.
Dr. Zauk has been an active member of the St. Joseph’s community throughout his tenure at the hospital, both as a physician and through his involvement with the SJRMC Foundation. He has served as Chair of the Nursery Committee since 2000 and is currently a member of the Pediatric Residency Education Committee, Neonatal Transport Committee, NICU Task Force Committee, NICU Reunion Committee, Pediatric Safety and Quality Committee, Pediatric P&T Committee and NICU Infection Control Committee. He also currently serves as a Board Member of the IPA of North Jersey and has served on the Committees for the Foundation’s Charity Ball and Golf Classic. A generous supporter of the Foundation’s philanthropic efforts, he is also a member of the Cooking for Kids Committee, serving as the event’s Co-Chair in 2011.
Dr. Zauk received a leadership award from the Healthy Babies Coalition in 2004 and that same year received a Citation from the New Jersey State Senate 35th Legislative District. He has been listed among the National Register’s Who’s Who of Executives and Professionals and listed in the Research Council of America’s “Guide to America’s Top Pediatricians.”
Over the years, Dr. Zauk has been an invited lecturer and has published numerous articles on his vast experience in the field of Neonatology, generously sharing his expertise.
Since 1995, he has been a member of the Vermont-Oxford Neonatal Network, a voluntary collaborative group of health professionals committed to improving the effectiveness and efficiency of medical care for newborn infants and their families through a coordinated program of research, education and quality-improvement projects.
Dr. Zauk and his wife Rose, an anesthesiologist, reside in Franklin Lakes and are the proud parents of Jenna and Ryan.
