The American Cancer Society (ACS) has announced Thursday, November 21, 2013 as the date for the “Great American Smokeout”. The goal on the Smokeout Day is to get smokers to quit for one whole day, or at least try to cut down their smoking substantially.
Tobacco use is the single largest preventable cause of disease and premature death in the United States, yet about 43.8 million Americans still smoke cigarettes - nearly 1 in every 5 adults.
The Paramus Board of Health supports the ACS efforts and strongly urges all to join the Great American Smokeout and commit to keeping our society and our children healthy.
Contact www.cancer.org or call the ACS at 1-800-ACS-2345 for self-help materials, support programs and counseling.
The Paramus Board of Health can be contacted at 201-265-2100, Ext. 615 or 618 for additional information and resources.
