Hunter Douglas matched donations from its employees on a two for one basis; for every dollar donated, the Company added another two dollars. In less than three weeks, the Company received $115,000 in contributions to its Hunter Douglas Colorado Flood Relief Fund and added another $235,000 for a total of $350,000.
Marv Hopkins, President and CEO of Hunter Douglas Inc., presented the donations at the Company’s Pearl River headquarters to Mimi Vilord, President and CEO, United Way of Rockland County, N.Y., and Team Rubicon’s Co-Founder William McNulty.
Said Hopkins, “On behalf of all Hunter Douglas employees throughout North America, I am honored to present these donations to these two organizations that have been crucial to providing assistance to those affected by the Colorado flooding: the Foothills Flood Relief Fund, created by Foothills United Way in response to the devastation caused by the severe flooding in Boulder and Broomfield Counties, and Team Rubicon, which mobilized veteran volunteers to the area.”
One hundred percent of the funds raised for the Foothills Flood Relief Fund are being used for short- and long-term health and human services needs related to the flooding. Foothills United Way works with community leaders, state and local officials and nonprofit partners to quickly assess needs and respond.

Founded in 2010 by Iraq veterans Jake Wood and William McNulty, Team Rubicon (TR) unites the skills and experiences of military veterans with medical professionals and first responders to rapidly deploy emergency response teams into crisis situations. TR offers veterans a chance to continue their service by helping and empowering those affected by disasters, and in turn, provides them with a new mission, community and sense of self, three things many veterans lose upon taking off the uniform.
Most recently, 163 Team Rubicon volunteers deployed to Colorado where they assisted 95 homeowners in recovering from the flooding. In total, TR helped the communities of Lyons and Longmont save more than $400,000 in recovery costs.
