Threat of a heavy snowfall did not deter 8 hardy Paramus Sunrise Rotary Club Members from having their planned breakfast celebration. Ordinarily, the club meets at Doctors Express, 67 E. Ridgewood Avenue on Tuesday mornings. With the advent of Christmas coming and the decision to pass on the next two meetings, President Sophie Stone became innovative; thus the meeting at the diner. Eight hardy members came from towns like Hoboken, Haledon and Fort Lee as well as Paramus to attend this meeting. They were happy that they did.
President Sophie arranged to have gifts for the members attending, delicious Xmas tree cookies and a special Xmas candle which was lit. The club lights a Remembrance Candle at every meeting to either commemorate a special event or just to celebrate the meeting. In this case, it was to celebrate the meeting.
Several of the members meet at the diner early on Thursday morning for BNI, a business networking group. Joe Castelano of Doctors Express is one of them and it was he that arranged for the celebratory party. The group experienced such camaraderie that Joe was moved to host and treat the group to the meal.
The club did postpone a scheduled Fireside Chat at the home of Loula Karapiperis of CKO Kickboxing for the next evening. That will be held at a later date, probably in January. There is another January function scheduled, a Meet & Greet to be held at the Bahama Breeze on Thursday the 16th. This will be an effort to introduce qualified potential members to three of the Paramus Rotary Clubs.
