The Allendale Community for Mature Living, Northern New Jersey's premier continuum-of-care senior living and healthcare campus, has announced the addition of key staff members to its leadership team. Kathy Manger was named administrator, while Dr. Evan Kushner has assumed the role of medical director. Also, Kinga Weglinski, RN, and Kathleen Kelly Malaver, CALA, were promoted to director of nursing and certified assisted living administrator, respectively.
The staff changes follow the appointment of Dr. Timothy Giancarlo as president of the family-owned and operated senior living campus earlier this year. Dr. Giancarlo represents the company’s second generation of leadership. He succeeded his father, Dr. Hector R. Giancarlo, who stepped down as president after nearly 50 years at Allendale’s helm.
“These executives bring years of industry experience and innovative strategies to their new roles, and I am pleased to welcome Kathy, Dr. Kushner, Kinga and Kathleen Kelly to our leadership team,” said Dr. Timothy Giancarlo. “Their credentials and compassion for seniors strengthen us on many fronts as we move into an exciting period of growth. Our team is committed to creating a community where every resident leads a happy, fulfilling life.”
Dr. Timothy Giancarlo oversees Allendale’s day-to-day operations, and brings a visionary approach to running the healthcare organization. With more than 20 years of medical experience he previously worked in private practice specializing in podiatric medicine and was founder and co-owner of a long-term care pharmacy. He is a licensed nursing home administrator (LNHA) and a licensed podiatrist, and holds a bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University and a D.P.M. degree from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine.
Kathy Manger is one of a few certified LNHAs in New Jersey and brings more than 40 years of experience to her role at The Allendale Community. She most recently served as administrator of Forest Hill Healthcare Center in Newark, N.J. Prior to that, she was director of nursing/assistant administrator of Chestnut Hill Convalescent Center for 32 years, and also was director of nursing at Holy Name Friary in Ringwood, N.J. Manger earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Felician College and a master’s degree in business administration from William Paterson University. She has been a board member of The Society of Licensed Nursing Home Administrators of New Jersey (SLNHANJ) since 2011, and is a fellow of The American College of Healthcare Administrators (ACHCA). Manger also is a board member of Programs for Parents Inc., an Essex County-based non-profit organization.
Dr. Kushner attended SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, N.Y. and is board certified in geriatrics. He is an internist at Forest Healthcare Associates in Paramus, N.J., and is on staff at HackensackUMC in Hackensack, N.J. and The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, N.J. Dr. Kushner holds membership in the American Medical Association, the Medical Society of New Jersey, Bergen County Medical Society and the American Geriatric Society.
Kinga Weglinski, a nurse at The Allendale Community for the last 16 years, was promoted to her new position as director of nursing as a result of her past work. “She has consistently demonstrated excellence with extensive clinical experience and outstanding leadership capabilities,” Dr. Giancarlo said. Previously, Weglinski served at the community as assistant director of nursing, and as in-service director, nursing supervisor and infection control nurse.
Kathleen Kelly Malaver has been with The Allendale Community for two years, serving as both community relations director and the manager of Carlton Court. She has extensive experience working with seniors and most recently was assisted living coordinator at another senior living campus before joining the Allendale team. Malaver holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from The College of St. Elizabeth and is a member of The Rotary Club of Teaneck.
The Allendale Community for Mature Living is located at 85 Harreton Rd. in Allendale (GPS: 65 Route 17 South, Ramsey). Consistently updated and renovated, the senior living and healthcare campus includes four full-service senior residences offering a continuum of care that serves residents’ changing needs: The Atrium Assisted Living; Carlton Court, a memory care neighborhood; The Allendale Nursing Home; and The Rehabilitation Center at The Allendale Community.
