Annual Reorganization Meeting Of The Bergen County Board Of Freeholders

Former Paramus Mayor James J. Tedesco III was sworn in as a Freeholder at the Annual Reorganization Meeting of the Bergen County Board of Chosen Freeholders on Monday, January 6th, 2014. Jim was one of three Freeholders being sworn in officially during this meeting. The other two were reelected Freeholders Maura R. DeNicola and John A. Felice. There were many dignitaries present to help celebrate this important Bergen County event including quite a few from Paramus.
The Presentation of the Colors was done by the Bergen County Sheriff's Department Honor Guard. The Star Spangled Banner was sung by Ja'Neil Humphrey, a student at Teaneck High School. This was a beautiful and touching presentation. At the request of Freeholder Felice, Pastor Stephen Sweet of the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church of River Edge performed the Invocation. This was followed by Bergen County Clerk John Hogan certifying the election of the three Freeholders. In a few brief remarks, County Executive Kathleen A. Donovan welcomed the Freeholders and mentioned that she looked forward to working with them in the future.
DeNicola was sworn in by County Executive Kathe Donovan, Felice was sworn in by his father, former Freeholder Nicholas Felice. Jim Tedesco had former Governor Richard Codey to swear him in. Codey quipped that he was late in arriving because he tried almost every locked building in the County complex. There was a large contingent of Paramus residents and dignitaries present to watch one of their favorite mayors being sworn in.
From Paramus, some of the people were Mayor Richard LaBarbiera, Council people Steve Sullivan, Pat Verile, Donna Warburton and MariaElena Bellinger, Deputy Police Chief Rob Guidetti, Former Freeholder John Driscoll, former Police Chief Rick Cary, Assemblyman Joe Lagana and Tina Apprich and Mario Sicari.
Present were US Congressman Bill Pascrell, NJ Senators Bob Gordon, Loretta Weinberg and Paul Sarlo, Assemblyman Tim Eustace and Assemblywoman Valerie Huttle, Bergen County Sheriff Mike Saudino. Englewood Mayor Frank Huttle and Reverend Larry Evans II (Paramus Police Chaplain) of St. Francis of Assisi in Ridgefield Park who was requested by Tedesco to give the Benediction. Fr. Larry gave an outstanding delivery of the Benediction.
