The snowstorm really wreaked havoc on the Paramus Borough schedules. The Mayor and Council meeting was delayed for two days thus meeting on January 23 for both the Work Session and the Public Meeting. This delay caused the Caucus Room where the Work Sessions are usually held to be occupied by another Paramus Board. Both Council meetings were held in the Council chambers . This required the assembled audience to leave the area during the Closed Session and, for the most part, stand out in the hallway awaiting the end of the 45 minute Closed Session.
The scheduled 7:45 meeting started at 8:20 PM, to the relief of the standees out in the hall. The Council got through their Reports and official business in record time. Of note was the promotion of several police officers to acting ranks of Captain and Sergeant.
During the Open to the Public portion, discussion was made by members of the Historical Commission which included Matt Corso and former councilman Ralph Amato. A group new to the Borough, there was discussion on the preservation of historical homes and how best to ensure that they are preserved.
