Storming for the Vote: Hurricane Sandy and the Election, a documentary film sponsored and produced by the League of Women Voters of New Jersey (League), will be shown on Thursday, February 20 at 7:00 p.m. at the Leonia Public Library, 227 Fort Lee Road, Leonia, New Jersey. The film presentation, sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Northern Valley and Teaneck, is open to the public and free of charge.
The inspiring 20-minute documentary chronicles the efforts that were made to ensure that citizens displaced or disrupted by the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy were able to exercise their right to vote. The film will deepen viewers’ understanding of the election process.
Members of the League will be available to meet and greet attendees in a reception following the film presentation. The public is welcome to invite a guest or bring a friend and learn about the League's mission to encourage informed and active participation in government, increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influence public policy through education and advocacy. About the League of Women Voters
The League was an outgrowth of the 19th amendment passed in 1920 giving women the right to vote.
