The annual New Jersey Top 10 Beaches Survey is once again looking to crown the state’s most popular family vacation, ecotourism and day trip locations from throughout the Garden State.
Atlantic City, with its free beaches, fun-filled activities and year-round amenities, is vying with nearly 70 other state-wide attractions and locations for the annual privilege to call the destination resort the best of the best. Vote for Atlantic City here: http://www.njtoptenbeaches.org/we-are-back .
Atlantic City’s free, sandy beaches bustle with activity from sun-worshipping bathers basking in the refreshing cool waters of the Atlantic Ocean, to surfers navigating the waves, to romantic walks along the white sand. More than 50 convenient walkways and handicapped-accessible ramps allow for easy access on and off the beach. Afterwards, bathers can rinse off the beach sand at the many free showers that are conveniently located just steps from the Boardwalk.
Atlantic City’s free beaches are home to several beach bars that team with live musical entertainment, cold drinks, colorful cocktails and delicious food dishes, as well as the soothing sounds of crashing waves and memorable ocean-front vistas. The latest addition is the LandShark Bar & Grill, part of Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville and the only year-round full-service bar and restaurant on the beach side of the Boardwalk.
Beach and Boardwalk goers are always treated to many free activities when they travel to Atlantic City. The popular Atlantic City Airshow annually draws more than half a million spectators, the nightly 3D light and sound shows on the façade of Historic Boardwalk Hall defy one’s imagination and many styles of live entertainment may be enjoyed at several venues up and down the beach and Boardwalk.
The fun doesn’t stop in Atlantic City after the temperatures drop. Year-round activities and amenities keep visitors coming to the city’s beach and Boardwalk throughout the year. The return of the Miss America Pageant to Boardwalk Hall and the accompanying “Show Us Your Shoes” Parade in September has brought Atlantic City back into the national primetime spotlight. World-class dining, shopping, entertainment and nightlife are all literally steps away from Atlantic City’s free beaches and Boardwalk.
Day-trippers and family vacationers “DO AC” year-in and year-out for fun in the sun, a stroll on the Boardwalk, a swim in our clean ocean waters, and exhilarating amusements. Children and adults alike can get a hands-on experience at the Atlantic City Aquarium, climb 228 steps to the top of New Jersey’s tallest lighthouse, try their hand at 18 holes of miniature golf or experience the thrills at Steel Pier and Central Pier. Daily bicycle rentals are available for a relaxing ride down the Boardwalk, Atlantic City cruises originate at Historic Gardner’s Basin for dolphin watching and fishing trips, while IMAX at Tropicana offers a stunning theatrical experience. These are just a few ways everyone can “DO AC.”
The New Jersey Top 10 Beaches Survey was originally introduced in 2008 as a way to inspire pride in and stewardship of the state’s beaches while promoting some healthy and friendly competition between New Jersey’s beach towns.
You may vote for Atlantic City at http://www.njtoptenbeaches.org/we-are-back through the end of April. Results of the survey will be announced prior to the Memorial Day weekend at the New Jersey Sea Grant Consortium’s State of the Shore Media Event, which is a premier gathering of coastal experts, state officials, and members of the media, to kick off the Jersey Shore summer season, on Thursday, May 22.
