The Accident by Chris Pavone brings forth a new suspense novel written by someone experienced in the book field. Although his 2nd novel, Pavone has made a name for himself in the world of mystery books. It's deals with a subject that he is familiar with, having been a book editor and an Expat, coincidentally the title of his first novel.
The plot deals with a manuscript delivered anonymously to a literary agent who recognizes the value of the manuscript, even though the author is also anonymous. She contacts a book editor who she feels will recognize the value of this short manuscript. Although they try to keep this gem to themselves, others recognize the potential and surreptitiously make copies to try and vend in other markets.
Little do these interlopers know that because of the explosive nature of the material affecting some very powerful titans, extreme steps are being initiated to contain the manuscript and anyone who has access to it. The plot extends from the United States to Switzerland and Denmark. Eradication takes place in all of these places.
The novel is very interesting, but Pavone has a tendency to be over descriptive. He also bounces back and forth in time during any portion of the plot without warning. It is up to the reader to put it in proper perspective. I might also add that any astute mystery reader can surmise the ending or, at least get close to it!
