THE MASTER GARDENERS OF BERGEN COUNTY Present:”Native Plants in Your Landscape” with Nancy Slowik
At the March meeting of the Bergen County Master Gardeners, there will be a presentation on “Native Plants in Your Landscape” by Nancy Slowik, with an interactive discussion on native plants that attract wildlife while adding color and variety to your existing plantings.Learn about the importance of native plants in our landscapes, the value of creating welcoming habitat for wildlife in our gardens, ecological restoration, wildlife meadows, habitat conservation, and more.
The program will provide an overview of native trees, shrubs and wildflowers that can be added to your landscape, plus a listing of local native plant nurseries.
Nancy Slowik, will share her knowledge as an educator, naturalist, research associate and consulting biologist. Nancy currently teaches at the New York Botanical Garden, is a watershed educator at Bergen SWAN, a field biologist at Hudsonia, Ltd., a consultant at North Star Pathfinder LLC, and a consulting biologist conducting assessments that include rare plant survey, breeding birds’ inventory and amphibian survey.
The presentation will be held on: Tuesday March 25, 2014 at 7:30pm, at The County Administration Building, One Bergen Plaza, County Place, Hackensack, NJ. in the multi-purpose meeting room on the 1st floor. Home of the County Extension Office. There is plenty of parking & easy access to the building. Meetings are open to all interested gardeners, free of charge, and refreshments, followed by announcements, start at 7pm.
