Paramus Coaches Dinner

The Paramus Recreation Commission recently held its Coaches Dinner at the Florentine Gardens in River Vale. This annual event is the Commission’s way of saying thank you to the hundreds of volunteer coaches that are vital to the programs offered by the Paramus Recreation Department.

This year’s “Coach of the Year” was Tom Sharples. Over the years Tom coached both his son and daughter in numerous sports including soccer, baseball, softball, football and lacrosse. Even though both of his children have graded out of rec programs, Tom continues to dedicate many hours to the Paramus Lacrosse Program of which he not only coaches in, but holds a leadership position in.

The Commission also recognized two of its own, Laura Criscione and Donna Apidopoulos, who respectively served eleven and ten years as recreation commissioners. The women were presented with plaques containing pictures taken during their time as Recreation Commissioners.
