The Paramus Police Department Announces Arrest Of Born Graham, Of Paterson For The Possession Of A Loaded Handgun.

Born Graham
On Monday, March 31, 2014, at 9:41 pm, Paramus Police Officer Jon Umanzor stopped a 2006 Chevy Impala color white on Route 4 west near Forest Avenue. The vehicle was missing a headlamp and had overly tinted windows. Umanzor approached the vehicle which was being driven by Born Graham and immediately smelled the scent of raw marijuana. Officer Umanzor requested the response of a K-9, narcotics dog, from the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department. The K-9 dog made several positive indications on the vehicle.

Mr. Graham refused to allow the officers to search the Impala so the car was secured in order to obtain a judicial search warrant. On April 1, 2014, the search warrant was obtained and the car was searched. Located in the glove box of the Impala was a loaded 9 millimeter Glock 17 handgun. After a thorough search of the car, no marijuana was discovered. Mr. Graham turned himself in to the Paramus Police Department later in the day. He was booked then released on $25,000.00 bail. The defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

The suspect was arrested and charged on April 1, 2014 with:

Unlawful possession of a handgun 2C:39-5
Felon in possession of a handgun 2C:39-7A
Possession of large capacity handgun magazine 2C:39-9H
