Kids and adults alike will love this year’s acts, including an open-air circus, car shows, an acrobatic motocross show, comedic jugglers, exciting live concerts and much more
State Fair Meadowlands today announced its entertainment lineup for its 2014 fair, which runs June 20 through July 6 at State Fair Meadowlands Fairgrounds, next to the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford. New acts this year include an open-air circus with a real-live flying human arrow, three car shows, an acrobatic motocross show, comedic jugglers, live concerts and much more.
“Every year, we like to offer fresh new entertainment to dazzle fairgoers of all ages. Kids and adults alike are going to love our stage entertainment as well as open-air thrill shows. And of course, we will also be bringing back old favorites, including the Big Cat Encounter, Racing Pigs and hypnotist Steve Bayner,” said Al Dorso, president of State Fair Meadowlands. “We’re thrilled to have music for all ages, including iconic 1960s pop icons, Kendall Schmidt’s Heffron Drive, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus and a host of up-and-coming local bands. The best news yet – ALL of this entertainment is free with entry ticket!”
The open air circus will include high-wire acts, a swaypole, a trapeze artist and the famous Brian Miser, who shoots himself across the sky from a crossbow. On July 4th, Brian will treat audiences to his special “human fuse” show, where he lights himself on fire prior to sailing across the sky to a soft landing (and a fire hose).
On June 21, Cousin Brucie will be back with new musical acts for his Second Annual Palisades Park Reunion and Sirius XM live broadcast. Also new this year, for all 17 days of the fair, will be a special “Movie Cars” attraction, which will feature replicas of cars from TV and film, including Batman, Back to the Future, Scooby Doo and more. Fairgoers won’t want to miss this year’s all-new Acrobatic Motocross Show, a feast for those who love to watch daredevils undertake outrageous stunts. Each Saturday of the fair will be a new cruise-in car show – Vintage Autos; Muscle Car Madness; and Open Independence Day for all cars and trucks.
State Fair Meadowlands is the largest fair in the New York metro area, with over 150 rides and attractions on over 35 acres of fairgrounds. The fair will feature more than 50 food vendors, including favorite “fair fare” such as delicious Jersey pizza, Greek gyros, burritos, corn dogs, curly fries, corn on the cob, turkey legs, funnel cakes, candied apples, deep-fried Oreos, ice cream and more. Fairgoers seeking something really special can try chilled lobster rolls, tender flavorful filet mignon and mouth-watering pasta dishes.
This year’s fair will feature 72 thrilling rides, 16 of which are new this year. Fairgoers also won’t want to miss taking a ride in the Batcopter, the original helicopter from the 1960s TV series, as well as the Skyride, an all-time family favorite.
