Gold's Gym, An Icon In Paramus

Having lived in Paramus for ages, Gold's Gym was a very familiar name and perfect for use in the second Paramus Weight Loss Challenge. Just as familiar is the name Mike Epstein who has represented Gold's Gym at many functions including the Chamber of Commerce. I've known Mike for all these years, but never had the opportunity to visit his establishment, Gold's Gym. The fact that Gold's Gym is one of the Weight Loss Sponsors and was offering two free weeks of membership finally pushed me into seeing the inside of Mike's workout place. It was there that I learned he had a partner, Art Carril, a very nice laid back gentleman. Mike is the front man; the mouthpiece of Gold's Gym.
Another interesting facet is that this gym has been active in Paramus for 22 years and is the only remaining original gym to start up in town. The amount of equipment is amazing, designed to help in Crossfit Training, Cardio workouts, Tanning and Sauna, Weightlifting, Juice Bar and Parties. Our congenial host has offered Gold's Gym as a meeting place for the Paramus Sunrise Rotary Club on Tuesday, June 3, 2014. That should prove interesting and worthy of your visit.
Registering for the Weight Loss freebie, Mike asked questions about what would like to be achieved:
1. Have you been exercising regularly or are you new to exercise?
This gives us an idea of their experience level as we have programs for everyone from beginner to advanced.
2. What are your fitness goals?
Everyone is different and we have different programs and solutions for people based on what they are trying to accomplish. Some people are looking to lose weight, some may want to add muscle, get stronger, improve their cardiovascular condition or just want to look and feel better. Our personal trainers have years of experience helping people achieve their goals.
3. Do you have any medical issues that might affect your exercise program?
While we are not doctor's, we know that many people have a variety of issues that may need to be addressed regarding their exercise program. In addition to our personal trainers, we have an on-site Physical Therapist, a Holistic Health Coach and a Chiropractor that all work together as part of our wellness team to help people with whatever issues we can.
4. What do you like to do when you exercise?
We like to find out what people are interested in as we have so many things we can introduce them to. It's important to get some variety when you exercise so we encourage people to try different things, whether it be our strength training machines, free weights, group exercise classes, kettlebells, Crossfit, our new Kickboxing Program called Fight Club or any of the many ways we can help people exercise and accomplish their goals.
5. Do you have a workout partner or a plan to accomplish your goals?
We encourage people to work out together as it can be more motivating when someone is with you and encouraging you to get to the gym. It's also important to have a game plan so you know how often you will be working out and what you will be doing for each workout to get the most benefit from it. We help many of our members develop these plans as just like a sports team, a game plan is vital for your success.
Armed with this, I did several weeks of fitness training with the intent of losing weight. Coupled with a change in diet, it seems to be working. The body feels much better and more active, the mind more alert.
