West Brook Teachers and Students Compete

As a way to put West Brook students at ease during NJASK week, students had the opportunity to join in student versus faculty games after school. Teacher volunteers from across grade level and subject area as well as Mrs. Alvarez took part in the four day event. Mrs. Dowson and Mrs. Smerdon, along with West Brook Student Council, organized this spectacular experience. Students purchased tickets to join and attend each event. Students were able to sign up for volleyball, relay races, kickball, and a basketball shootout. The money raised was donated to Relay for Life. The scheduling was perfect as the events took place the week leading up to West Brook’s annual Relay Field Day.
The teachers and students shared competition and many laughs. Many students said that having these events during the NJASK week really helped relieve stress during an otherwise stressful week. A special thanks to Mrs. Dowson and Mrs. Smerdon with organizing the event and helping to raise money for such a wonderful cause. Students and faculty are already looking forward to next year’s events.
