At a recent meeting of the Sunset Rotary Club-Central Bergen, members were given a presentation by a most distinguished speaker. Dr. Robinson is the state’s official climatologist and is also a Professor of Geography at Rutgers. He was welcomed by Tom Shea, the club President and by founder member Frank Ramsey, both long time Ridgewood residents. Via Dr. Robinson’s presentation, members were given a glimpse into how the state tracks weather using sophisticated monitoring devices placed all across the state. A great deal of information about New Jersey’s weather and how it is being affected by climate change can be gleaned from the official website at: http://climate.rutgers.edu/
Sunset Rotary Club – Glen Rock, Paramus and Ridgewood, is one of the huge family of Rotary clubs worldwide. Meetings are held every Wednesday at 6 pm at the Bonefish Grill, Paramus Park. The Club is one of the most active in the region, hosting distinguished speakers every week, organizing fund raisers and food collections, providing meals and barbecues for those in need; aiding servicemen who have been injured in the recent wars. All of the members give of their time and resources selflessly in the true tradition of Rotary, the oldest philanthropic organization in the world with 1.25 million members in 34,000 clubs in 175 countries.
