This fest was held at Sapphire Thai Food Express in Teaneck. Mukesh Malkan was in charge and he usually picks a terrific eating place; this was no exception. The attendees sampled many different appetizers and then ordered from the extensive menu. For those that like their food spicy, the restaurant was happy to oblige. They even catered to the vegetarians with specific meals.
A BYOB place, Malkan brought Johnny Walker Black and some red and some white wines. This added to the festive occasion and the Johnny Walker Black bottle was emptied along with the wines. Dedicated drivers had been appointed so that the celebrants could imbibe with ease.
The wait staff at the Sapphire was very attentive and checked to make sure that water glasses were filled and that there was plenty of ice for the drinks. The food came out and was delivered to each patron without error or delay. Although not a large restaurant, the service and food were very gratifying.
These dinners give the Rotarians a chance to get together in a convivial atmosphere and to get to know their fellow members. Rotarians have remarked that it was gratifying to meet members of the club in such relaxed atmospheres; the formality of a regular meeting gone.
