The weather cooperated with the Memorial Day celebration and the attendees were satisfied. Mayor Rich LaBarbiera gave an address that encompassed the recent wars from WW 1 to the present day. Veteran Service Officer Sam Casiello brought the entire ceremony into a well knit performance that was very satisfactory. He even arranged for the 508 MP Army unit from Teaneck to attend that offered credence to the occasion. Freeholder Jim Tedesco III appeared in his Paramus Fire Chief uniform; he has been a longtime member of the Paramus Fire Department. The national anthem was song by Alison Wolfer, a Paramus High School senior and it was announced that this would be her last year in this singing capacity as she will be attending college. Alison did a dynamite rendition and later sang the second part at the wreath dedication ceremony.
Each year, the master of ceremony position is rotated among the service clubs. This year, it was the Jewish War Veterans with the Catholic War Veterans under the leadership of Ed Onorato doing the color guard honors.
