Highlights of a League of Women Voters Agricultural Study to be Presented at Annual Meeting.
The League of Women Voters of Northern Valley (LWVNV) will present Got Food? Think Before You Buy. Highlights of an Agricultural Study. at the organization's annual meeting on June 4 at Griffin's Bar & Grill, 44 East Madison Avenue, Cresskill, New Jersey. The public is invited to attend.
Registration begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by a dinner comprised of a choice of soup or salad, three entrees, dessert and coffee. The charge for the inner is $25 per person with a cash bar.
Food: What's Really in Your Dinner?
Speakers Ellen Bakish, Anne Lander, and Fran Molnar will present the League's agricultural study findings that examined technological and financial issues impacting our food. Among the technological issues that will be discussed are genetically modified organisms (GMOs), herbicides, pesticides, agricultural water pollution, aquifer depletion, antibiotics in livestock, and accurate food labeling. Financial issues, including consolidation in agricultural industries, crop subsidies and the federal agricultural regulatory process, will be examined. A question and answer period will follow.
Drawing members from over 20 towns in Bergen County, the LWVNV will discuss the organization's activities and work undertaken during the past 12 months. The new board of directors for 2014-2015 will be announced. For further information about the event or to RSVP, call (201) 568-0787.
