Blake Shelton, Bon Jovi, Katy Perry, Pharrell and Bruce Springsteen among artists chosen for official soundtrack to AC’s 2014 fireworks event on Friday, July 4, 2014, at 9:30 p.m.
ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (May 27, 2014) – Boom, boom, boom, and, yes, even brighter than the July moon, this summer’s new DO AC 4th of July Fireworks spectacular, one of the Top 5 biggest fireworks shows in America, will certainly own the night on July 4th, as Atlantic City celebrates America’s Independence Day with a world-class pyrotechnic display scored to a soundtrack curated by “the people.”
TO PAINT THE SKIES OF ATLANTIC CITY WITH A SPECTACULAR “SKY CONCERThe free fireworks show — a “Sky Concert™” featuring a selection of songs chosen by “the people” via a contest held by the Atlantic City Alliance on the DO AC Facebook page earlier this spring— will commence at 9:30 p.m. and include 10,000 fireworks shells and effects. In the final 30 seconds of this brand-new, first-of-its-kind fireworks show alone more than 1,000 shells will be fired.
Created by one of the country’s largest fireworks companies, Pyro Spectaculars by Souza and presented by the Atlantic City Alliance, the DO AC 4th Of July Fireworks will kick off the holiday weekend with a show so big that it will take two ocean barges and one marina platform to cover the island with a spectacular “Sky Concert™” for the senses. Souza, which produces and presents pyrotechnic displays and shows around the world including the Macy's 4th of July Spectacular in New York City, has created the show specifically for Atlantic City with Souza’s unique fireworks choreographed to the songs “the people” chose to be included in this first-ever “Sky Concert.”
With countless viewing areas throughout the city, spectators will set up along Atlantic City’s World Famous Boardwalk, at one of the many beach bar parties or viewing events, on the Steel Pier, in the Marina District, or at one of Atlantic City’s luxury casino resorts to take in this year’s stunning fireworks show.
Now in its third year producing Atlantic City’s July 4th fireworks, the Atlantic City Alliance (ACA) asked “the people” to choose the official soundtrack to the show. After tallying nearly 3,200 votes in select song categories, the results of the song contest wound up featuring an array of New Jersey artists, as well as the Blake Shelton — who plays a free beach concert in Atlantic City on July 31, followed by another free beach concert by Lady Antebellum on Aug. 3 — hit “God Gave Me You.”
Other voices that will be heard along with Shelton’s, star of NBC’s “The Voice,” all chosen by the people, include Ray Charles (“America The Beautiful”), Leann Rimes (“God Bless America”), the late Newark, N.J., native Whitney Houston (“The Star-Spangled Banner”), Pharrell (“Happy”), Bruce Springsteen (“Born in The USA”), Katy Perry (“Firework”) and Bon Jovi (“Livin' On A Prayer”).
