Valley’s Former Cardiac Surgery Patients Share Insights from the Patient’s Perspective

More than 80 former cardiac surgery patients and their family members were invited to attend a Heart Healthy dinner at The Valley Hospital to offer feedback and suggestions about their patient care experience at Valley Hospital. "This program strengthens our partnership with patients and family members and allows us to learn from them and implement their feedback as we strive to offer excellence in patient care" said Mary C. Collins, Advanced Practice Nurse with Valley’s Cardiac Surgery program. Of those in attendance, 21 have agreed to serve as formal volunteer Patient/Family Advisors to the hospital. "The Cardiac Surgery team is grateful to these ‘experts’ for helping us to help those who will undergo cardiac surgery in the future here at The Valley Hospital," Collins said.

Shown here are some of the members of the Cardiac Patient and Family Advisory Committee with Alex Zapolanski, M.D., Director of Cardiac Surgery; Mary Collins (standing at center), and Cardiac Surgery staff.
