Haworth Resident To Be Installed As Rotary District Governor

Calisto Bertin
Haworth resident Calisto Bertin will be installed as District Governor for Rotary District 7490 at a special Banner Exchange and Installation on Friday, June 20 at Biaggio’s Terrace in Paramus.  Beginning July 1, Bertin will lead 55 Rotary Clubs throughout Bergen, Passaic and Hudson Counties for one year as the Rotary clubs in this area make a difference in their communities and around the world.

A graduate of Villanova University and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Bertin established Bertin Engineering, a consulting firm in Glen Rock in 1986, and later that year joined the Mid-Bergen Rotary. He served his club by actively participating in club functions and holding each office for multiple terms.  He and wife Lisa, a Rotarian with the Northern Valley Rotary Club,  have hosted many club functions at their home throughout the years.

Bertin served as District Chief of Staff for PDG Joe Laureni in 2007-2008, and as District Secretary for PDG Adele Miller in 2010-11. In 2007, Calisto was appointed a trustee of the Walter D. Head Foundation, now Rotary District 7490 Foundation.  In 2011 Calisto became chair of the foundation and initiated the Rotary Military Family Assistance Center, a food pantry for families of military personnel.  Beyond the district, Calisto has served as a facilitator and trainer at the Multi-District PETS since 2007.

The Bertin’s have been extremely active with Rotary’s Gift of Life program, which brings children from other countries to local hospitals in this country to repair their hearts.  They hosted their first Gift of Life child in 1998 and five additional children since

Outside of Rotary, Calisto has long history of vocational service through personal endeavors and participation in several professional organizations.  In recognition of this, the district presented Calisto with the Vocational Service Award in 2008.

Calisto and Lisa have four adult children, one of  whom is very active in charitable programs and is the Vice President and Treasurer of the Pennsylvania Chapter of Dress for Success.  Calisto and Lisa have two small dogs that are regular companions and often accompany Calisto to work.
