Terry Hayes' first venture into writing a novel is I AM Pilgrim, a thriller that will keep you at the story until it is finished. His first attempt at writing books should be heralding in one of the best mystery writers to come onto the scene in many a year. His many subterfuges not only work out well, but interplay with the story.
Pilgrim is a codename for a man who prides himself on anonymity. A former secret espionage agent, he had devised ways to obliterate his previous existence, so he thoought. A NYC police officer who takes up the task of locating him, becomes successful at putting together the loose ends f the blind alley. He finally meets our hero in a friendly gesture and becomes a most trustworthy part of the plot.
The story pits two highly intelligent people against each other, each with different backgrounds and causes. Each is developed into highly trained saboteurs and saviors. A large cast is involved and the reader is kept in suspense as to the outcome and the final reconditioning.
