Jim Tedesco, the Democratic candidate for Bergen County Executive, today issued the following statement on Gov. Chris Christie’s veto of legislation that would have provided a 10-round limit on the capacity of gun magazines.
“There is no need for more than 10 bullets in any gun magazine unless it is for law enforcement. Last year’s shooting at Garden State Plaza showed us what happens when someone with an addiction problem gains access to a gun. We were lucky to avoid an even greater tragedy on that day and must also look into providing more in-depth background checks before guns are sold. The amount of gun violence across the country these past few years is proof positive something must be done, especially in Bergen County considering how many colleges and malls are in the region. And the first common sense step to pursue is to limit the amount of bullets in magazines,” said Tedesco, a current Freeholder and current Deputy OEM director in Paramus.
