Home-grown business adds production and research capabilities in La Vergne, TN
FlashPoint Candle, a leader in creative candle décor and design for inside and outside of the home, has announced the opening of a new facility in La Vergne, TN. The announcement comes at the close of a $360K convertible debt deal signed in April which paves the way for the company’s Series A round of funding to raise $1.5M in capital by year end.
Drea Groeschel, founder and CEO of FlashPoint Candle explains, “We have been looking for ways to react swiftly to market changes and seasonality as well as create and produce differentiated product for distinct sales channels. Everyone wants something new and different. Now, we can provide innovative concepts quickly with this integrated R&D and production facility.” The new facility is a compact 7500 square feet and will house the FlashPoint Candle corporate offices, research and development team, as well as handle e-commerce and short-run production and fulfillment.
“By providing unique, channel-specific products, we will level the playing field for various sales channels and thus, take steps toward enabling our e-commerce and brick and mortar retailers to compete more effectively. We know this is important to our customers and we want to address this concern in a way that also benefits the consumer through diversity of product offerings,” says Drea Groeschel.
Although the company has always maintained a Nashville presence, this facility marks FlashPoint Candle's first foray into production in the Volunteer State. “I started the company at the Nashville Farmer’s Market and am excited to have a portion of the production local, right here at home. We create handcrafted goods and are eager to add a ‘Made in Tennessee’ label to the products,” expresses Groeschel. “The new facility will be like an incubator of ideas with lots of testing for product design and functionality to ensure we are bringing products to market that retailers and consumers want and need.”
In addition to providing the community with more jobs as production at the La Vergne location expands, the centrally located Tennessee site will provide FlashPoint Candle with a second, cost effective means of shipping to its customers. “Tennessee is a great place to ship from. It is a central hub and we can get our short-run product and concept samples to buyers quickly and cost effectively from our new location,” says Groeschel. The company will also continue to utilize its partner pouring and warehousing facility in Ohio for the majority of its production and fulfillment needs.
