During its UPTV television debut on Aug. 17, “Summer Snow,” which has been called been called “wonderful,” “inspiring,” “exceptional,” “amazing” and “uplifting,” was also the No. 1 movie premiere thus far in 2014 among women ages 25-54. The film aired again on Aug. 22, and another showing is planned for 9 p.m. on Labor Day (Sept. 1).
“The making and the premiere of ‘Summer Snow’ has been a dream come true,” said co-writer/director Kendra White. “We couldn’t be happier with the outpouring of support for this wonderful story.”
Added co-writer/director Jeremy White, the other half of the brother-sister team who made “Summer Snow” a reality, “This summer was the culmination of months of hard work—but it was all worth it to see moviegoers, and now a huge television audience, fall in love with these characters, their struggles and their triumphs.”
“Summer Snow,” which made moviegoers laugh and cry at theaters this summer in Tupelo, Miss., and Lexington, Ky., saw success on the big screen too, as the originally planned weeklong run was extended to three weekends.
“Summer Snow,” starring David Chisum, Cameron Goodman, Garrett Backstrom, Brett Rice and Rachel Eggleston and tells the story of 8-year-old Hallie Benson (Eggleston), a small girl with a very big heart. Whether baking cookies for a grumpy neighbor or selling toothbrushes to help a friend, Hallie always thinks of others. Unfortunately, her “creative” ways of helping people often leave her father, Dan (Chisum), with a mess to clean up. Dan struggles to keep it all together after his wife’s death. He doesn’t cook, do hair or know how to help his three children without his beautiful wife and her unshakeable faith in God.
UPTV is carried by most cable systems around the country, as well as by DirecTV (channel 338), DISH Network (channel 188) and Verizon FIOS (channel 224). UP TV is projected to be in 70 million homes by the end of 2014. Plans are also in motion to release “Summer Snow” on DVD this fall.
