HackensackUMC Foundation Hosts Annual Golf Outing

(Paramus, NJ)  Nearly 300 golfers hit the green recently for the HackensackUMC Foundation 18th Annual Invitational Golf Outing at the Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus.

This year’s outing, which raised more than $750,000, a record for the Foundation, honored Michael A. Kelly, M.D., chairman, Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine, and chairman of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at HackensackUMC.   Proceeds from the golf outing will benefit the Orthopaedic Institute at HackensackUMC and the HackensackUMC Foundation.

“I want to thank everyone for supporting Hackensack University Medical Center and the annual golf outing,” said Robert C. Garrett, president and chief executive officer, Hackensack University Health Network. “This year, the HackensackUMC Foundation is raising a record amount of money, not just at this event, but in general.   It is events like this one that allows HackensackUMC to provide the exceptional services and programs we offer to the community each and every day.”

Dr. Kelly was honored due in part to his reputation as a world-class orthopaedic surgeon. As a result, a record number of individuals participated in both the golf outing and the dinner that followed.

“I am extremely humbled,” said Dr. Kelly. “I represent not only myself, but a distinct group of surgeons who are making incredible things happen in Bergen County and beyond. I accept this honor on behalf of my colleagues and I thank everyone for supporting HackensackUMC and the Orthopaedic Institute.”

This year’s golf outing had two shotgun starts.  Top sponsors of the event were Healthgrades, Inserra Shop-Rite Supermarkets and Verizon. Prestige Motors, Mercedes-Benz sponsored the hole-in-one. Established in 1980 as a 501(c) (3) charitable organization, the HackensackUMC Foundation raises funds that support the diverse programs and services which benefit patients at the medical center.  The Foundation accepts contributions in the form of direct cash gifts and pledges, matching corporate gifts, planned gifts and gifts-in-kind.  For more information on ways to donate or upcoming events, please call 551-996-3720 or visit www.HackensackUMCFoundation.org.
