Chief Corrubia joined the Paramus Police Department in 1972. He rose through the ranks and became chief on August 27th, 2002.  Washington Twsp. residents Debbie and Fred have three children; Fred ( a PA officer), John (an electrician) and daughter Kelly an attorney who works in the office of Superior Court Judge Robert Contillo.  So far this couple have 2 grandchildren.

When I asked the chief about his background, he mentioned that he was in the service from 1967 to 1971. He made the decision to become a police officer and selected Paramus as his career start. While a police officer, he went to college (William Paterson) and graduated in 1977.

His hobbies include golf, motorcycle riding ( has owned a Harley Davidson for years) and is a member of the PBA, Paramus Catholic War Veterans, the Elks, the American Legion and the NJ, NY Honor Legion. Debbie likes gardening and has remained a housewife.

One can tell that Chief Corrubia enjoys being chief. The friendly atmosphere that surrounds his office shows in the officers that come in and out. While there, I met Deputy Chief Richard J. Cary and Police Officer Norm Bizik. Both are down to earth people. The Deputy Chief, along with the Chief is anxious to meet all of us and are planning for a day at the Emergency Management complex where they can show us the workings of the department. Officer Bizik has been working with us to solve the knocker problem.

Chief Fred Corrubia commented that he sees a changing generation; he likes it!
