FREE CPR Class at Bergen Regional Medical Center on September 15, 2010

Sponsored by the Foundation at Bergen Regional Medical Center

Almost 80 percent of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests occur at home and are witnessed by a family member. However, only 6.4 percent of sudden cardiac arrest victims survive because the vast majority of those witnessing the arrest are people who do not know how to perform CPR. If more people knew CPR, more lives could be saved. To help county residents, Bergen Regional Medical Center is hosting a free public CPR class for county residents on Wednesday, September 15 from 6:30 p.m – 7:30 pm. Pre-registration is required, and participants can call 201.225.7141 to sign up.

Rochelle Park Police Chief Rich Zavinsky's Personal Message

POLICE CHIEFS' MESSAGE

Welcome back everyone. Hope you all had a great summer vacation. It sure was "Hot" enough! As we all know, once school starts there will be children walking, bicycling, and busing to school. I urge students to be especially careful when crossing the streets. I have personally witnessed children talking to their friends or on a cell phone, and obviously not watching for traffic. Please do not talk on the phone while crossing streets, it is a very unsafe and dangerous practice. Parents and other drivers, please be aware that once the school year begins children will be present between 7:30 and 8:30 am, and 2:30 to 3:30 pm. Although we should always be alert, it is especially important during the school year. I wish everyone a happy and safe school year.
