(Newark, NJ – April 7, 2016) - The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey, the philanthropic arm of Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey (Horizon BCBSNJ), today announced that it has made a $25,000 contribution to the Newark Water Fund to help provide bottled water for Newark Public Schools and children, test thousands of students for lead exposure and provide health-related services. Horizon BCBSNJ employees will be donating cases of bottled water for Newark at their work locations and will make financial gifts to support the Newark Water Fund. Hackensack Riverkeeper Kicks off Cleanup Season with Bi-State Watershed Cleanup

Environmental group partners with SUEZ, Park Ridge Green Team, and public to clean up Woodcliff Lake

On Saturday, April 23, 2016 Hackensack Riverkeeper joins forces with SUEZ (formerly United Water) at Woodcliff Lake reservoir in Hillsdale for the first cleanup of its 2016 Eco-Program season. The Woodcliff Lake cleanup is one of several community-wide cleanups taking place on 4/23 as part of the Bi-State Watershed Cleanup - a day of action in the Hackensack River Watershed in both New Jersey and New York state. Members of the public and the press are invited to join in the large-scale cleanup effort. Bergen Freeholders Award $229,000 Community Development Grant for Zalewski Park Improvements in Cliffside Park

The Bergen County Board of Chosen Freeholders on Wednesday adopted Resolution #366-16, authorizing a grant agreement in the amount of $229,000 with the Borough of Cliffside Park for improvements in Zalewski Park.  The source of funding for the award is a Community Development Block Grant from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) which is targeted and administered by the Bergen County Division of Community Development.
