In Light of New Terrorist Threat Assessment, Josh Gottheimer Urges Communities to Apply for Complex Coordinated Terrorist Attack


Glen Rock, N.J. – After the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness’ recent finding that “our threat landscape has expanded dramatically in the last year,” Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) is urging communities in New Jersey’s Fifth Congressional District to apply for a federal grant program to prepare for complex coordinated terrorist attacks (CCTA Program). Gottheimer has been consistent in his commitment to fighting the growing threat of lone wolf and homegrown terrorists, particularly after the incidents in Fort Lauderdale, New Jersey, San Bernadino, and Orlando.

Narcotic Arrest in Paramus


The Paramus Police Department announces the arrest of ALHUSSAIN ALI ASHABI (DOB: 11-15-1984) of Albany, NY for Possession of Heroin and “Khat”.

On January 16, 2017 at 21:00hrs Paramus Police Officers Timothy Reed and Forrest Diedolf conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 2017 Nissan Altima for failure to maintain a lane on State Highway #17 in Paramus. Officers observed narcotics in the passenger compartment in plain view. Reed located $27,960 of American currency throughout the vehicle. The currency was in the center console, overhead sun visor and stuffed in a garment bag.  Ashabi was placed under arrest for possession of ½ lb Khat, one bag of Heroin and Money Laundering.

Paramus 2016 UCR results


The Paramus Police Department is pleased to announce that reported crime in Paramus was down in 6 out of 7 recorded crime categories in 2016 according to the State of New Jersey Uniformed Crime Report. Most significantly were a 16% decrease in robberies, a 61.8% decrease in Motor Vehicle Theft and a 9.8% decrease in Burglaries, even after factoring in a late summer rash of residential burglaries that struck the Bergen County area. The only category to increase was Larceny Theft which includes Shoplifting.

Eustace Applauds Clean Bus Funding for School Districts

(TRENTON) – Assemblyman Tim Eustace on Tuesday applauded the award of $810,000 to upgrade of 41 school busses in school districts throughout the state.

“This is a great, environmental win for New Jersey students and school transportation in the state,” said Eustace, who is the chair of the Environment and Solid Waste Committee. “Changing older diesel buses over to buses using clean diesel technology will help to improve New Jersey’s air quality and move us toward a cleaner, more environmentally responsible state.”
