Interviewing Phillip St. Pierre, the new manager at Westfield Garden State Plaza

Phillip St. Pierre We had just concluded the Westfield 9/11 Memorial Service and Phillip St. Pierre and I started walking back to his office.

First words out of his mouth were "Would you like something to eat?" When I declined, this hospitable Senior General Manager refused to eat until the interview was over. Of course in his office, he also offered a choice of beverages, a complete gentleman. I felt badly about his lack of a meal, but must admit I wanted to get to the interview. Read more

Auntie Anne's Pretzels at Paramus Park During a Business Profile interview with Diana Heller and Hank, her father, at Paramus Park Mall, I happened to mention a favorite place for hotdogs near Elizabeth. I had forgotten that Auntie Anne’s also has hotdogs. Diana asked me if I would like to taste one of their pretzel hotdogs. I politely declined as I also did their offer of a fresh hot pretzel. Before you know it, there was not one, but two hotdogs and a humongous drink set in front of me. Read more

Life at the Paramus Library

Life at the Paramus Library Len LoPinto, the Paramus Librarian, treated me to an insight of the nooks and crannies in our library. Resting at the Comfort Inn & Suites

The Comfort Inn on Rte 17 As I entered the automatic doors of the Comfort Inn on Rte 17 South, I asked the pretty receptionist for Fernando.  "He's not in." she replied. Swallowing a gasp (the weather was boiling hot), I mentioned that I had an appointment with him. She immediately got on the phone and then assured me that it was no problem, Sean would be out in a few minutes. I was assured that he would be able to help, that Fernando had called in sick. Police Officer Vincent Pepe

Police Officer Vincent Pepe It took a lot to get a broad smile out of this dedicated police officer. It occurred during our interview when, after stating that he had served 10 years with the Police Department but has worked for the Borough for 20 years. Vincent who is known as Vinnie by his co-workers has worked for the Shade Tree and Parks Department and the Paramus Municipal Court. I asked him why he became an officer, his eyes rolled back reflectively, that winning smile came forth and he stated “I always wanted to become a police officer. My lifelong dream.” Read more
