One might call Flo Pappas a fixture at Paramus Borough Hall. She has been there since December 20, 1970 starting? with then Mayor Charlie Reid. She has since been secretary to Mayors Joe Cipolla, Cliff Gennarelli and now Jim Tedesco. One may ask ?Why is it that I stay working??. The answer is simple! I have always? been treated with respect and kindness by the four mayors and approximately 40 Council Members.
No matter who is Mayor, Flo has served them well holding all confidentiality and is loyal to them. The essence of diplomacy and tact, this super active lady attends most Mayor and Council meetings as well as being the Human Resources Manager. ? I meet them coming and going.? she commented. This position requires attention to health benefits and checkups.
At the Mayor and Council meetings, Mrs. Pappas is often seen taking pictures of awards being given and checks presented. Many is the time, she has to go back to her office to get information or documents needed by Mayor Tedesco. That is why she can usually be found sitting up front at these meetings, ready to go!
Through the years, Flo has arranged all the Retirement parties, 50?s Dances, helped? Mayor?s Senior Parties , Christmas luncheons, etc. Flo is a lady who understands the importance of organizations.
On a personal note, she has been married for more years than she can remember. Flo and George have 2 daughters, Chris and Marianne and? her pride and joy, 4 grandchildren., Kevin, Jessie, Nick and Christina.
When asked about her hobbies, one might list work among them.? However, she loves dancing, loves it in almost all forms from Jitterbug to whatever. Cooking is also a preference although she especially likes pasta. No, not ziti or rigatoni, but regular spaghetti along with meatballs and sausage. Of course she makes her own tomato gravy!
The soul of discretion at her work, Flo Pappas is still a lot of fun, a good human being.
