Bergen Community College Women's Basketball Star Named Honorable Mention All-Ame

Bergen Community College Women’s Basketball star Sabrina Foster, of Hoboken, was recently named a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Honorable Mention All-American. The versatile freshman small forward led the Bergen Bulldogs to an impressive fourth place finish in the GSAC Region XIX Division III conference last season recording 19.8 points, 11.8 rebounds and a staggering 4.96 steals per game.Foster, one of only four freshmen to be named an All-American, was the second highest scoring freshman in the nation last season, ranking sixth overall. Elected team captain in only her first season, Foster assumed leadership responsibilities early in her collegiate athletic career. Women’s Basketball Coach David Kessinger believes that Sabrina’s depth of character is the main reason she has made such a significant impact as a leader to her teammates.

“Sabrina is a great teammate and basketball player, but more importantly, a wonderful and caring person,” Kessinger said. “She personifies exactly what any student athlete attending Bergen should strive to become.”

Foster is also striving to excel academically. The social work major anticipates completing the course work for an Associate in Science (A.S.) degree by next spring.

“I can envision myself working as a professional social worker in the future,” Foster said. “I like the idea of dedicating my life’s work to helping others and assisting them in improving the quality of their lives.”

Bergen Community College is a public two-year coeducational college, enrolling more than 14,000 students in Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, and Associate in Applied Science degree programs, and certificate programs.
