Ford Supermodel Finalists invade Westfield Garden State Plaza Shopping Center

Ford Supermodel Finalists
Ten lithe beauties from various parts of the world visited the Westfield Garden State Plaza Shopping Center Monday evening January 14th. Accompanying them were several young people who had been to St. Jude's, courtesy of Westfield. The intent was to show these youngsters that there was a bright world out there and that these beautiful young ladies were there to not only help them, but to set a shining example of the future. The 10 Ford Model Finalists, their chaperones and the St. Jude's group were guided through the Plaza by Kimberly Baldy, Westfield Regional Assistant Marketing Director. They visited Build a Bear Workshop where the youngsters were helped by the models to dress up a bear of their choice. Over to Auntie Anne's Pretzels where they were offered a taste of Americana and then to the double deck Carousel on the main level. Everyone present was offered a free ride courtesy of the Carousel management. The smiles were everywhere! On the way to the Carousel, the group stopped in at few of the other Plaza shops.

Among the Ford representatives was Julie Andrews, Director of Modeling for the Ford Agency. Julie furnished me with a list of the names of the young ladies present and the countries that they came from. They are: Diana Marin, Columbia; Catherine Hernandez, Mexico; Viktorija Paltanaviciute, Latvia; Vilita Bitvinskyte, Lithuania; Cecile Sinclair, Netherlands; Kendra Spears, MySpace; Dagny Sandvik, Norway; Alissa Shafranova, Kazakhstan; Anna Zheltonosova, Ukraine and Olivia Major, Sri Lanka.

Aspiring models from around the globe compete for a $250,000 Ford contract with the international finals scheduled for New York City in mid-January 2008. Behind the scenes activity of the yearlong contest can be viewed at www.myspace.com/fordsupermodel.
