With a national day of action and on the eve of the introduction of new Comprehensive Immigration Reform proposal, Presente.org enthusiastically welcomes the introduction of new CIR legislation.
“Today’s national day of action for immigrant rights reminds us that the serious and potentially historic dialogue the country is about to undertake comes, in large part, thanks to the tireless efforts of many,” said Arturo Carmona, Executive Director of Presente.org. “Today’s marches, vigils and other actions remind us that we would not be having a national conversation on immigration reform were it not for the the immigrants, the immigrant rights movement, the Latino voters, the majority of people in the U.S. and many others. We’re here on the national mall to demand that the government and politicians move away from the failed immigration policies that put prisons before people. We’re here to remind the politicians that we demand real reform- and we demand it now.”
