National Latino and immigrant leaders and allies are organizing a nationwide week of actions calling on President Obama to show he’s serious about immigration reform by immediately halting deportations. During this week, NALACC, Presente.org and Cuentame along with other organizations from the Families First Immigration Network (FINN) will coordinate actions in numerous cities including Chicago, IL; Los Ángeles, CA; Houston, TX; Greenville, NC; Boston, MA; and other US cities.
“President Obama must show Latino and other voters that he is serious about supporting real immigration reform,” said Arturo Carmona, Executive Director of Presente.org. “We're mobilizing in different cities to let Latinos and President Obama know that it's very dangerous--and completely wrong--to assume that Latino voters are blind to the fact that the President's record-breaking, family-destroying deportation programs continue at their aggressive pace. We voted for real reform, not increased deportations and militarization of the border.”
