Paramus Sunrise Rotary Inducts A New Member

Meeting 07-23-13
Honorary Member A. Tina Apprich has been inducted as a regular member of the Paramus Sunrise Rotary Club. A valued member of the club, she will now be able to hold office and attend the Board of Director meetings in her capacity of Assistant Secretary. Well versed in Rotary lore, Apprich has been taking attendance and maintaining one hundred percent attendance since she was made an Honorary Member over a year ago. It is not incumbent upon Honorary Members to do that. She joins the ever increasing membership of the dynamic  Paramus Sunrise Rotary Club!

The speaker at the meeting was Stephen Weissner,  the Executive Director of Flat Rock Brook, a Nature Center in the heart of metropolis. It is located at 443  Van Nostrand Avenue in Englewood, NJ. Steve, also Rotarian in the Englewood Rotary Club, described the many displays and nature items that a visitor may encounter. For those that want to spend the day there, picnic tables are available. Helped by a myriad of volunteers, this facility offers a trip back to nature and a natural habitat. Offered are: hikes, nature lore, gardening and a 5k Run. The latter will take place on August 11th starting at 8:30. Adhering to the nature theme, it will take place rain or shine.

For information about this or any other offerings, contact Flat Rock Brook at www.flatrockbrook.org  or call 201 567 1265

As usual, the honor lighting of the Remembrance Candle was given to one of the members, in this case, Past President Gary Spivak. The last person to arrive is the person selected to blow it out. All latecomers after 8 AM are required to contribute a dollar to the 'Latecomers Can'. The proceeds from this go towards making someone a Sustaining Member in the Paul Harris Rotary Foundation.
