According to the USCAA, Mr. DeStephano was selected for “his strong advocacy and leadership.”
Mr. DeStephano was named Director of Athletics at Berkeley College in 2013. Since joining the Athletics Department in 2010, he has been instrumental in overseeing the creation and implementation of six intercollegiate varsity sports; a new state-of-the-art athletic Website; and an annual Athletic Banquet. Also under his leadership, the College secured its first National title when the Men’s Basketball team won the USCAA Division II National Championship in March.

In addition to being named USCAA Athletic Director of the Year, Mr. DeStephano will serve President of Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference for the 2015-16 season.
Mr. DeStephano joined Berkeley College in 2008 as an adjunct instructor, Management, Larry L. Luing School of Business. He was named Assistant Athletic Director in 2010 and was promoted to Associate Athletic Director in 2012. Prior to joining Berkeley College, he served as Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Centenary College in Hackettstown, NJ, where he was the youngest Head Coach in the program’s history, bringing nearly a decade of coaching experience to the position.
Mr. DeStephano has extensive experience with basketball camps and has served as an owner, director, guest lecturer, coach and counselor, among other positions. He holds an MBA from Centenary College and a BS in Sports Management from St. John’s University, NY.
